During the May SST meeting Paul Mintner, Coordinator for Leadership Programs in the Center for Student Involvement & Leadership, and Kelley Ashby, Senior Director of Academic & Leadership Programs in the Pomerantz Career Center, provided updates on the SST Leadership Development and Strengths Committee. The two committee co-chairs outlined the goals of the committee, the principles guiding the committee’s approach to this project, the subcommittee chairs, the deliverables, and the two main components of the project: Strengths and Student Leadership Competencies. Dr. Corey Seemiller, author of The Student Leadership Competencies Guidebook, presented on student leadership competencies including the background and creation, reasoning for using competencies, and tips and examples for implementation. After Dr. Seemiller’s presentation SST members had an opportunity to brainstorm ways to implement Student Leadership Competencies with the SST Leadership Development and Strengths subcommittee chairs.
